How does this product help support cellular function?

Calcium and magnesium play important roles at the cellular level; for example, both calcium and magnesium serve as a second messenger in many cell-signaling pathways. Adequate calcium consumption appears to be important in maintaining healthy blood pressure. Calcium and magnesium work in tandem to promote normal nerve function.*

How does the calcium in this product support health?

Calcium and magnesium are of critical importance to human health, especially bone health.Bones and teeth contain 99 percent of the calcium found in the human body, while bones alone contain 50-60 percent of the magnesium present in the body. Both calcium and magnesium are essential in the maintenance of bone structure and body function. Cal-Ma Plus provides 15 percent of the recommended daily value for calcium in each three-tablet dose.*

How does Cal-Ma Plus support endocrine function?

The endocrine system’s parathyroid gland produces parathyroid hormone to regulate calcium levels in the body. When serum calcium levels are too low, the parathyroid gland releases more parathyroid hormone, causing bone resorption (breakdown) to re-allocate calcium from bones to the blood. Parathyroid hormone also increases the formation of active vitamin D to increase the absorption of calcium. Magnesium can also exert similar effects on pararathyroid hormone. Additionally, the level of cellular calcium affects the release of insulin from insulin-producing cells in the pancreas.*
