How do these B vitamins support health?

The members of the B family of vitamins work collectively to metabolize fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. They are each singularly responsible for many important physiological processes concerned with physical and mental health and well-being. For example, thiamine (vitamin B1), helps break down carbohydrates into simple sugar (glucose), which the body then oxidizes to produce energy for all the cells.1 Thiamine also supports muscle function2, 3, 4, 5 and is required for heart function.6 Niacin and its derivative nicotinamide are dietary precursors of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD), which can be phosphorylated, resulting in NAD phosphate (NADP), and reduced, resulting in NAD hydrogen (NADH) or NAD phosphate hydrogen (NADPH). Over 400 enzymes in the body require NAD and NADP, mainly to accept or donate electrons for oxidation-reduction (redox) reactions during the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.7, 8 Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) performs many important regulatory tasks inside the body, but a key responsibility is to break down and synthesize amino acids.9 Vitamin B6 also supports the synthesis of neurotransmitters10 and hemoglobin.*

How does this product support nervous system function?

Cataplex B contains thiamine, niacin and vitamin B6. Both niacin and vitamin B6play essential roles in nervous system function.11, 12 Vitamin B6 is involved in the synthesis of many neurotransmitters, including serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. Thiamine is necessary for proper nerve function13, 14, 15, 16 and is found in brain cell membranes.17 The B vitamins are an important factor in maintaining the health of nerves.*

How does this product support cellular health and metabolic efficiency?

Thiamine, niacin, and vitamin B6 facilitate essential metabolic processes happening every minute of every day inside our bodies. Niacin is necessary to metabolize carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Vitamin B6 supports the formation and function of red blood cells. Even moderately low levels of vitamin B6 can result in widespread perturbations in metabolism. Vitamin B3 is converted in the body to NAD+, which plays a vital role in cellular energy metabolism.18, 19*

Whole Food Nutrient Solutions

Since 1929, Standard Process has been the visionary leader in whole food nutrient solutions. We apply systems thinking to holistic nutrition that empowers practitioners to transform lives. Dedicated to the whole food philosophy of our founder, Dr. Royal Lee, our goal is to carry on his mission to provide nutrients for the body that are as close as possible to how they are found in nature.

Our products include foods that are prepared in a way that safeguards their nutritional value. The majority of these ingredients are grown locally on our certified organic farm and may require chopping, dicing, juicing, and/or drying for use in our products. The resulting whole food ingredients are then added to a formula that may include whole food extracts, animal tissue extracts and concentrates, botanicals, whole food isolates, and synthetic ingredients. These highly complex combinations contain a variety of elements designed to trigger trophic effects that support the body’s healthy balance and wellness.*
