Bio-Tech's Melatonin 5 mg contains a synthetic form of the naturally occurring hormone melatonin. This hormone helps the body to adjust its internal clock to sleep during the night when it is dark and be awake during the day when it is light. People with sleeping problems tend to have lower levels of this hormone. Melatonin 5 mg can be used to help calm patients prior to anesthesia for surgery. Some people apply melatonin directly to their skin to help reduce the risk of sunburn.
